Dierbergs Markets Breaks Ground On A New Store In Lake Saint Louis

For Immediate Release: December 17, 2020

Dierbergs Markets broke ground this month on its 26th location after receiving unanimous approval from the Lake Saint Louis Board of Alderman. The main feature of the site plan is a 71,000-square-foot Dierbergs store located at the southwest corner of Ronald Reagan Drive and Orf Road, next to Lowes in the Shoppes of Hawk Ridge. Additionally, the plans include approximately 17,000-square-feet of adjoining retail space and two future building areas adjacent to Ronald Reagan Drive.

“Our family is so thrilled to be building a store in Lake Saint Louis. We put a lot of thought and energy into the design of this store and think our customers will enjoy seeing it come to life.” said Greg Dierberg, President and CEO, Dierbergs Markets. “We feel the timing is right to open a location in this fast-growing community and pleased to be adding new jobs in the process.”

Dierbergs is working with new partners for the development of the store, including CD Companies for architecture and engineering, in addition to PARIC, our general contractor who will use numerous local union contractors, to complete this build in time for the 2021 holiday season. “The tractors are on site and we’re moving dirt,” said Jonathan Hill, Director of Construction and Development for Dierbergs Markets. “With our plan in place, we will be serving the Lake Saint Louis community in a little less than a year from now.”

Additionally, with approval of this site plan, Dierbergs and Capitol Land Co. will begin leasing efforts early on in 2021 for the new retail space, with the expectation of attracting local, regional and national service, retail and restaurant tenants. Future outparcel buildings will provide potential for drive thru service.

“The Dierbergs development is a very important addition to the city of Lake Saint Louis, and also the surrounding area in St. Charles County and adjacent municipalities,” said Kathy Schweikert, mayor of Lake Saint Louis.  “The collaboration has been tremendous, from the team at Dierbergs to City Staff, the Lake Saint Louis Planning & Zoning Commission, and final approval from the Board of Aldermen. I’m grateful and so thrilled to have had the opportunity to play a part in this exciting enhancement to our popular Shoppes at Hawk Ridge shopping destination.  Comments from the community also express their excitement to have Dierbergs in their neighborhood!”

Brent Beumer, Vice President of Real Estate for Dierbergs credits the collaboration with city staff and elected officials to get through the site approval process quickly. “We’re thankful for everyone’s partnership in staying focused on the path to approval,” Beumer said. “Especially during the pandemic, when we encountered much potential for distraction. We continue to look forward to working with the city as we make progress on the site location.”
